Nature at its best

Anyone who knows me also knows that I get some of my greatest delights in creatures and nature. I created a grouping of 3 digital layouts which I will have printed and then framed to hang in my kitchen. Two of them are looking from the inside out and one from the outside in.

Bathtime

My grandson loved his bath time. He would use that foamy soap and have so much fun building with it. This layout is really outside my heritage style, but I'm playing with color more and I am becoming a little more comfortable with it.

Digital Fun

This layout is my son and band playing at a club. I had fun with this one. I used Syndee Knuckles Pink Ink paper which is a music paper. I recolored and used filters for the main backing, then since the original paper had guitars on it, I resized my son's guitar and placed it over the existing imagery, then ghosted a couple of the band photo's in the background. The she-devil imagery is actually the name of the guitar and is embedded in the neck of the guitar.

Recipe Book

I'm doing something different for family holiday gifts and I wanted to give you an idea of what I am planning.

My mom was well known from my brother's restaurants for her baking. During the holidays she would bake some of her most sought after recipes and give them as gifts to special friends and customers. I thought I would do a recipe book of some of her favorite recipes. Its not the usual kind, as I wanted to create these pages in her vision. She was a soft spoken person with a love for giving and cared deeply for family, friends and strangers alike. In fact there was no stranger in mom's life. I will be adding photos in between the recipe pages also, and it will end up being a combination of recipe's and precious moments in their lives. So here is a little preview. There will be many more pages, but let me know what you think about the way I am presenting this book. The products used are createwings designs, Paint The Moon and Joanne Brisebois

Simple Pleasures

I've really departed from my usual layout design with this one. The photo of my granddaughter inspired the simplicity. I felt the photo itself told the story. The papers and floral elements titled "Wonderland" were designed by createwings designs.

A newborn's conversation with God....

I don't know the author of this beautiful story, I wish I did so I could give credits to a most profound writing.

Watch the baby's eyes.

A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.'

The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.'

Again the child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.'

'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?' God said, 'Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.'

'Who will protect me?' God said, 'Your angel will defend you even if it means risking her life.'

'But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.' God said, 'Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.'

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, 'God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.'

God said, 'You will simply call her, 'Mom.'

So much Altering, So Little Time

Ahh yes, altering yet again. I'm finding this to be a fabulous addiction. Of course scrapping, both digitally and paper are also. I've decided to do a wall of my grandkids, but in a different way. I've begun altering their names using Wood Letters. I'm really finding this to be great fun!!

Tags

I actually like to use tags as cards. I frequently create cards that are not the usual fold type so they can be used on a layout if preferred.

Paper Piecings

I love creating them although I rarely use them on layouts, but will an occasional card. So I thought I would share a few that I have made using flocking. Love flocking, if you have never tried it you must give it a whirl. Here are a couple I made some time ago.

And here is one I created for a gift which is not flocked:

And one created for a Challenge at SBD:

Tag Challenge

One of the challenges I entered at SBD was a tag Challenge and I have to admit I was unsure if I would be able to grasp the concept correctly. The first layout is posted and the next person then creates their own version of their take on that layout, then the next person creates their own on that completed layout. Its amazing how different each one turns out, yet they follow the same design theme. Here is the layout that was posted before my turn:

And here is the layout I created based on the above layout:

This was a fun, fascinating challenge for me and hope this one is held again in the future.

Scrapbooks and Little Fingers

Little fingers are precisely what led to my interest in digital scrapping. Like many paper scrappers I had my doubts and wondered why anyone would want to give up paper for this new concept in scrapbooking. After viewing what I consider beautiful works of digital art, I opened my unused photo program and began playing around. In less than an hour I had created my first digital layout, the outcome undoubtedly the worst I have ever created, but that didn't matter, I jumped in and began a brand new journey. I can't say "I never looked back", because I love paper and digital scrapbooking equally. For me they simply serve different purposes.

Digital became a vehicle where I was able to create
safe, hands on albums for my young grandchildren whereas no dangerous embellishments could fall off, or a torn page would not represent hours of work forever lost. A disaster averted with a reprinted page.

Paper allows me the hands on touch and feel of dimension which I love through the various metals, laces, ribbons, buttons, layering, etc.

Each technique represents the same end result, simply executed in a different way.
